The Federation of New Zealand Ostomy Societies
Ostomy Societies were first established in New Zealand in 1961 and now undertake a variety of services and support to ostomates.
| VISITING | Ostomy patients in hospital or at home, both before and after surgery |
| TRAINING | Existing ostomates in visitor procedures and techniques and issuing authorisation on completion of the visitors’ course. |
| PROVIDING | Literature and other information on the management of ostomies. |
| PUBLISHING | The Federation’s journal called “The N Z Ostomate” three times yearly, for all ostomates (whether members of the Society or not) and available free from appliance supply sources. |
| SPEAKING | To all interested groups, especially students of nursing practice. |
| ORGANISING | Meetings with the opportunity for ostomates to discuss topics of mutual interest and to hear surgeons, nursing staff and other guest speakers on relevant topics. |
| ARRANGING | For displays of all types of appliance available in New Zealand at these meetings |
| ARRANGING | Social functions, outings etc. |
| PROVIDING | This WEBSITE is available to all ostomates |
